Strawberry, peach and date sugar crisp

Who can resist the smell of a good crisp baking in the oven?

In this strawberry and peach version, replace the brown sugar with date sugar: a natural sugar, source of fiber, vitamins and minerals!

Ingredients :

  • 750 ml (3 cups) strawberries, cut into quarters
  • 4 peaches, peeled and cut into quarters
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) cornstarch
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
  • 180 ml (3/4 cup) Degla date sugar
  • 250 ml (1 cup) large rolled oats
  • 180 ml (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 ml (1/4 teaspoon) salt
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) melted butter

Preparation :

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the strawberries with the peaches, cornstarch, vanilla, 60 ml (1/4 cup) date sugar and 60 ml (1/4 cup) water.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to a large cast iron skillet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture has thickened.
  4. In another bowl, mix the remaining date sugar with the oatmeal, flour and salt. Add the melted butter and stir.
  5. Cover the fruit mixture with the oatmeal mixture. Level the surface.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
